Just woke up in Council Bluffs and on the first cup of coffee. Got in late because we did go by Devil's Tower and the Badlands.
We had been to Devil's Tower twice before, so we didn't really need to go to the park itself. We wanted to get close enough to see it one more time and get some pictures. While heading back to the interstate, we had a CLOSE ENCOUNTER of the animal kind. A deer leaped a fence and almost jumped out in front of us. Glenda yelled, I stepped on the brakes, the deer stopped, stared at us and jumped back over the fence. All Glenda said was "I wish I had gotten a picture."
Our visit to the Badlands took little longer than anticipated because of some road construction in the park. Two sections of single lane road with flagmen probably added about a half hour to our trip.
I don't think we'll be doing much sight seeing today. We'll be making a bee line for home!
